- SIGNAL CAP - includes all of the above and excludes the power supply capacitors. They all either "pass" the guitar signal or are related to that.
- TONE CAPACITORS - are in the tone stack connected to one or more tone controls.
- BYPASS CAP - are in the cathodes of the gain stages (typically pins 3 or 8 of 12AX7s) and "bypass" (are in parallel with) the cathode resistor to ground.
- COUPLING CAP - connect one stage to the next. eg from pin 1 or 6 of a 12AX7 to the next stage. They block DC voltage and allow the guitar signal to go to the next stage.
